Dear Nikela & Jacques
Some weddings take a year (or more!) to plan. Yours? Three weeks. Three weeks! And yet, if someone had told me you’d been dreaming up every detail for years, I would have believed them. From start to finish, your day was a masterpiece—thoughtful, elegant, and overflowing with love.
Nikela, your morning at Barringtons was filled with laughter, happy chaos, and the kind of joy that only comes from being surrounded by your best girls. Meanwhile, Jacques, you and the gents were the epitome of relaxed confidence—whiskey in hand, poolside at The Joneses, soaking in the summer sun before the big moment.
And what a moment it was. Standing at Grand Africa Lookout Beach, with the ocean stretching endlessly behind you, your ceremony was nothing short of breathtaking. It was intimate, it was heartfelt, and above all, it was so perfectly you.
The reception inside the restaurant was like stepping into a dream—candlelight flickering against lush florals, the air filled with laughter and clinking glasses. And then, that first dance. Under the soft glow of sparklers, with all eyes on you, it was a moment of pure magic.
A special little touch that made this wedding even more special? Every vendor there knew each other from a styled shoot we had done at this very spot. In fact, one of your bridesmaids was the model from that shoot! So being back, this time for your wedding, felt like something meant to be.
And then there’s me. You flew me
in from Cape Town just to capture
your love story—an honour I don’t
take lightly. Thank you for trusting
me with your memories. Your love
was effortless to photograph
because it was so real, so present,
so undeniable.
Nikela & Jacques, your wedding
was pure romance. Your love is
one of my favourites I’ve had
the joy of capturing, and these
photos? Some of my favourites,
too.
Wishing you both a lifetime of
candlelit dinners, oceanfront
views, and dancing under the
stars.
With all my love,
Gemma
