Dear Sarah & Hobbes

There are weddings that feel easy and weddings that feel important. Yours was both—grounded, joyful, full of meaning, and very much a celebration of love and family.
Your ceremony at Life Changers Church was beautiful—not just visually, but spiritually. It was clear in every smile, every prayer, and every quiet moment that your faith is something deeply rooted in both of you, and it shaped the tone of the day in the most uplifting way.
Later, we headed to the truly picturesque setting of Chart Farm for portraits and more family time. This farm-style venue, nestled among rolling gardens with a rich variety of roses and country charm, makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the most welcoming slice of the Cape.
One thing that stood out right away was how much family meant to you both. Sarah, you wanted lots of family photos—and that was such a lovely reflection of how much these relationships matter to you. Seeing grandparents, siblings, cousins, and friends step into frame with so much warmth made the day feel full and rich in all the best ways.
Kelvin, the groomsmen brought such fun energy to the day—laughing, joking, and making space for genuine smiles in every shot. It helped balance the deeply meaningful moments with that lightness of celebration, which was so lovely to witness.
We also battled some tricky lighting, and the weather kept us on our toes. But you both met it all with grace and joy—which made every frame feel authentic rather than perfect. Sometimes the imperfect lighting gives us the most honest portraits, and you two owned it.
Above all, what stayed with me most was the quiet, genuine love you have for each other. It wasn’t just in the big moments—it was in the small ones too: a glance, a laugh shared with a family member, a moment of calm amidst bustle.
Thank you for inviting me to be part of your day. Your wedding was warm, heartfelt, and beautifully rooted in what matters most.
With all my love,
Gem
